The light theme uses #fafaf9 (stone-50) as its background — a warm-tinted white that avoids the eye-irritating glare of pure white. Cards and panel areas use #ffffff, while dividers are rendered in #e7e5e4 (stone-200).
The signature amber (#f59e0b) accent colour stands out most powerfully in light mode: action buttons, active menu items, and notification badges use this tone. The eye naturally gravitates toward amber anchors, making critical information instantly visible.
For front-desk work: The light theme matches the natural daytime lighting of a salon environment. When opened in front of a client, it projects a clean, professional appearance.
The dark theme's primary background is #0c0a09 (stone-950) — near-black with a barely perceptible warm undertone to avoid the harsh contrast of pure black. Panel and card areas use #1c1917 (stone-900); borders are rendered in #292524 (stone-800).
The amber accent reads differently in dark mode: the #fbbf24 tone glows like gold against the deep background. Buttons and active items are immediately distinguishable. Body text is rendered in #fafaf9 (stone-50) for comfortable readability.
On OLED screens, dark mode also delivers measurable battery savings: dark pixels consume almost no energy in OLED technology. For salon owners who work on smartphones throughout the day, this translates to noticeably less charge drain.

When System theme is selected, defte.co listens to the browser's or operating system's prefers-color-scheme media query. When "dark mode" is enabled on macOS, iOS, Android, or Windows, the dashboard automatically switches to the dark theme; it returns to light mode when daylight mode is active.
This option is ideal for salon owners who work across both desktop and mobile. You use light mode on your desktop in the morning and switch to dark mode on your phone in the evening — without changing any setting manually.
Your preference is saved in the browser. On your next login from the same device, the selected theme loads automatically. You can use different themes on different devices.
